Highbrow and Lowbrow

Nice post.

I go back and forth on the coffee as well. I love Caribou's medium and dark roasts and I'm hooked on the coffee at the local mom and pop shop. However, I drink most of my coffee at work (have my own coffee pot in my office). So for there, I go to the bulk section at Meijers and get their brand of whole beans. Their Kona and Costa Rica isn't half bad and it's $7.99 a pound vs $15 a pound for the others. I used to drink eight-o-clock a few years back. I liked it, but I like variety now and then. I might pick up a bag for old time sake.

Try Bon-Ami for cleaning the shower and counter tops. It's cheap and it works great.

I totally agree on the alcohol. I enjoy a Glenlivet on the rocks, but discovered Famous Grouse which is about $15 cheaper. Yes, it's a blended scotch, but it's twenty times better than the other premium blends. I keep a bottle of both Glenlivet and Famous Grouse, depending on my mood. For the money, Skky vodka or Kettle One is pretty good. Don't get me started on cheap beer...
Here's another PSA - stay clear of Wal-Mart's brand of tissues. Ouch, they hurt. I'm sticking with Puffs or Kleenex. Oh and I'm sticking with Viva paper towels.
I can't say I agree completely with you: expensive cars are not a waste. Nope. Not if it's a BMW.
But I know so many people that get fed up with those, any little dent and it is expensive as hell to fix, and they had maintenance problems all the time. Of course they still won't part with 'em. I loved my Benz, but it wasn't worth keeping after a while, it cost too much. Sure was purty though.
